Welcome back to The Richmond WI - 1 September 2021

Wednesday 1 September 2021, 7.30pm. Richmond and Putney Unitarian Church, Ormond Road, Richmond TW10 6TH

We are absolutely thrilled to announce our first scheduled meeting in over 18 months. After the difficult and uncertain times of the past year we are very much looking forward to welcoming our members and new guests to meetings again.

UPDATE - We're really pleased to say that Mary Reid OBE will speak at our first meeting back!

For many years Mary was a Councillor and a former chair of the Kingston Liberal Democrat Party.  She was also elected and served as Mayor of Kingston between 2007-08.  In 2014 Mary’s services to the borough were recognised when she was given an OBE by the Queen at Windsor.  Mary has supported the Rose Theatre since its inception and was on the Council when the idea of building a theatre in Kingston was initiated.  Mary then actively worked on the project during her time as Councillor.  Mary is now an Ambassador for the Rose Theatre and she has agreed to come along to our meeting and speak to us about the History of the Rose.  This promises to be a fascinating talk from someone who has been involved with the Rose from the very beginning.

Refreshments: Please bring your own drinks and snacks.

Admission is free for Richmond WI members, £3 for visiting WI members and £4 for guests. (Cash only)

We can't wait to welcome you back!

Antibiotic resistance - 4 September 2019

Wednesday 4 September 2019, 7.30pm, Duke Street Church Cafe, Quadrant Road, Richmond, TW9 1DH

Our first meeting back from the summer break was all about antibiotic resistance.

How to reduce the spread of antibiotic resistance:

  • Do not use antibiotics to treat viral infections, such as influenza, the common cold, a runny nose or a sore throat. Ask your doctor for other ways to feel better.
  • Use antibiotics only when a doctor prescribes them.
  • When you are prescribed antibiotics, take the full prescription even if you are feeling better. Ensure that members of your family do the same.
  • Never share antibiotics with others or use leftover prescriptions.
  • Remember, each time you take an antibiotic when it is not necessary, the effectiveness of the antibiotic decreases and it might not work the next time you really need it.
We learnt so much at this fascinating and important talk.
